Mónica Fernández Jiménez

Mónica Fernández Jiménez is a Ph.D. candidate and a junior researcher at the English Department of the University of Valladolid in Spain, where she also teaches courses on American literature and history and British contemporary literature. Her research interests range from postcolonial studies to contemporary American literature, with a special emphasis on the literature of the Caribbean diaspora. As such, she has published articles dealing with the works of authors such as Junot Díaz, Jamaica Kincaid, Claude McKay, Achy Obejas, Cristina García, Julia Alvarez and Derek Walcott. She is part of a recognized research project on American Ethnic Literature and has also worked with an ERASMUS+ project on ‘Hospitality theory and European cinema’, accordingly organizing many film projections and talks within and without academic circles.
