Nashuyuan Serenity Wang

Nashuyuan Serenity Wang graduated from the University of Warwick with a BA in Film and Television Studies in 2017. After finishing her MA in Film Studies at UCL, she is currently a PhD student in the UCL history department and working as a judge for the Beloit International Film Festival and a journalist for Chinese Weekly. Her research project is psycho-geography and the travels of the suffering female body in the twenty-first century Chinese cinema of dislocation. She has been particularly interested in the representation of cultural identity, geo-emotive mapping, and space and architecture in Chinese and Asian cinemas. Her papers on cinematic space and time have been presented at the Intersection conference in Florence last year and this year. She is now collaborating with Dr. Vivienne Lo, writing about the cinematic representation of contemporary Chinese female subjectivity for Film and the Chinese Medical Humanities.
