Nazlı Alimen

Dr Nazlı Alimen is a lecturer in the School of Fashion and Textiles at Birmingham City University. Prior to this, she taught at London College of Fashion (UAL) and Helsinki and Aalto universities. Nazlı is the author of Faith and Fashion in Turkey: Consumption, Politics and Islamic Identities (I.B.Tauris, 2018). She has also published in a variety of scholarly journals, contributed to edited books and prepared a special issue on fashion and dress in contemporary Turkey for International Journal of Fashion Studies (7:2, 2020). Her research interests include fashion marketing, consumer cultures, and visual and material cultures, particularly historical and contemporary fashion and dress outside of the western contexts.
