Nikoletta Papadopoulou

Nikoletta Papadopoulou is a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of English Studies of the University of Cyprus. Having earned a BA in English Language and Literature (University of Cyprus) and an MA in American Studies (King’s College, University of London), her current research focuses on American and European representations of captivity and confinement in relation to the Muslim Orient. Her research interests include racial passing and masquerade in the context of Orientalist discourse, Barbary captivity narratives from the eighteenth century onwards, as well as racial politics in media and pop culture.
