Nina Cole

Nina Cole is a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, Davis, in the Department of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies. Her work in this role includes serving as Assistant Editor of Critical Studies in Fashion & Beauty, writing original and collaborative research articles and participating in guest lectures and mentoring activities. She received her Ph.D. in cultural studies, completing designated emphases in feminist theory and research, and studies in performance and practice. Her doctoral research and published work centres on recent and contemporary adaptations of 1960s Jamaican popular music and vintage/subcultural style in Los Angeles. Broadly, her research interests include music scenes and subcultures, cultural and material revivals, transnational histories of popular culture and nostalgia.
