Olga Kakosimou

Dr Olga Kakosimou is a cultural anthropologist and artist, specializing in music, poetry and performing arts. She has gained her Ph.D. at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, in 2018. Her long-term fieldwork research has focused on fado singing and the poetical storytellings of the fado community in contemporary Lisbon. She has also studied ethnomusicology in Paris at the University Paris 8 and at the University Nova (FCSH) in Lisbon. For the past four years, she has been giving lectures about fado at the Department of Musical Studies (National University of Athens). In 2015, she participated in the organizing committee of the International Society for Academic Research on Shamanism (ISARS) international conference in Delphi (Greece). She works in Public Education in Athens and as an independent scholar.
