Patricia Olynyk

Patricia Olynyk’s work investigates science and technology related themes, and the ways in which social systems and institutional structures shape our understanding of science, human life, and the natural world. Working across disciplines to develop “third culture”projects, she frequentlycollaborates with scientists, humanists, and industry specialists. Her prints, videos andmultimedia environments often call upon the viewer to expand their awareness of the worlds they inhabit—whether those worlds are their own bodies or the spaces that surround them. Olynyk has been the recipient of numerous awards and distinctions and her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally, including: Palazzo Michiel, Venice; the Museum of Modern Art, Saitama, Japan; the Los Angeles International Biennial; The Brooklyn Museum; and the National Academy of Sciences. Her writing has been featured in the Routledge Companion to Biology in Art and Architecture, Technoetic Arts, and Leonardo Journal.
