Paul Bowman
Paul Bowman is professor of cultural studies at Cardiff University. He is author of over a dozen academic monographs on a range of topics, always involving cultural theory, popular culture, film, media and – most recently – martial arts studies. He is founding co-editor of the open access journal, Martial Arts Studies (Cardiff University Press). He is also author of the open access monograph, Deconstructing Martial Arts (2019), which can be downloaded free of charge from Cardiff University Press. His most recent work is The Invention of Martial Arts: Popular Culture Between Asia and America (Oxford University Press, 2021). He is currently researching and writing on the East–West crossovers in physical culture.
