Pedro Abrantes

Pedro Abrantes is a professor at Universidade Aberta, invited professor at ISCTE-IUL and a researcher at CIES-IUL, ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa. He has a Ph.D. in sociology, and has participated in many projects on education, youth and inequalities. He was visitor researcher at CIESAS-México. He is author of twelve books, 32 chapters and 45 scientific articles (twenty of them in international journals), including ‘Rights and indigenous adolescence in Mexico: New subjects, new dilemmas’, International Journal of Children’s Rights, 22:2, pp. 313–38 (2014) (with G. Saraví and M. Bertely); ‘Gendering social mobility: A comparative perspective on the nexus of education and class in Europe’, Gender & Education, 26:4, pp. 377–96 (2014) (with M. Abrantes); and ‘Socialization and inequality: A biographical approach to the working class in Portugal’, Current Sociology, 61:7, pp. 984–1002 (2013).
