Ray Fernandez

Ray Fernandez grew up in Baldwin Park in the San Gabriel Valley. Ray is a gay man of mixed descent (Chicano, Japanese, White) and came out at the age of 15. Ray attended UCLA and has a Bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies and Minor in Chicana/o Studies. After nine years in direct services providing HIV/AIDS education and prevention, Ray returned to school to earn a Master’s in Clinical Psychology with a Specialization in LGBT Psychology. Ray has worked for over 20 years in youth organizing in people of colour and specifically LGBT people of colour communities around multiple social justice issues including HIV/AIDS education and prevention. Ray currently works with youth on probation, addressing mental health and substance use issues. Ray loves flamenco, gardening, parrots, cooking and joteria.
