Rob Upton

Rob Upton is a teaching associate in the Department of Music at the University of Nottingham, UK. He teaches across a range of modules including music theory, music education and approaches to popular music. He holds a Ph.D. in music from the University of Nottingham (2017), and his research interests focus on semiotics and the performance of popular music. Beyond his research activities, he is a renowned instrumental tutor teaching guitar, piano and percussion in several schools, colleges and universities across the East Midlands. In addition, he is an examiner for RSL Awards (Rockschool) and performs with a number of international touring theatre productions.
