Seija Karppinen
Seija Karppinen, Ph.D. (Education), Senior Lecturer, Teacher Education, University of Helsinki, Finland. She has worked as a teacher in crafts in basic education and as a lecturer for more than twenty years in teacher education at the University of Helsinki (in crafts science, early childhood education, primary teacher education and adult education). She also provides tuition for in-service education and supervises doctoral candidates. Her current focus in teaching and research is on interdisciplinary approaches, the use of new technology, and innovation pedagogy, storytelling and improvisation in crafts, craft art, smart textiles, making culture and how all these could be brought into schools.
