Simone Kalkman
Simone Kalkman is currently finishing her Ph.D. thesis at the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis (ASCA). She holds an MA degree in art history from Leiden University and an MSc in Latin American and Caribbean studies from Utrecht University. Building on this interdisciplinary background, her Ph.D. research is focused on the representation of Brazilian favelas in contemporary art. Simone also teaches at the media studies department of the University of Amsterdam, and co-coordinates the ASCA Cities Seminar.
