Steve Rawle
Steve Rawle is a lecturer in film studies at York St. John University. His recent work has revolved around the films of Miike Takashi and the conflict between local and international texts in his work. He has presented numerous conference papers on aspects of Miike’s work and has recently published work in The Journal of Japanese and Korean Cinema on the relationship between the international promotion of Miike and Kim Ki-Duk under the “Asia Extreme” banner, and forthcoming work on hybridity in The Happiness of the Katakuris. He has also recently published work on the Ringu films, as well as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Battlestar Galactica. He is the co-author of Basics Filmmaking: The Language of Film and recently finished a book on performance in the films of Hal Hartley.
