Whitney-Jade Halsted

The personal connection to wildlife and remote wilderness areas of Zimbabwe is the origin of inspiration for Whitney-Jade Halsted. Born in 1988, the complexities of Whitney-Jade’s experience growing up in Zimbabwe and the navigation of her life now living in London probe contested histories of colonialism and mechanisms of power that have given rise to a creative explosion of meaningful artistic endeavours.

In 2012, Whitney-Jade studied undergraduate fine art at Ruth Prowse School of Art in Cape Town, South Africa. She moved to London in 2017 and in 2019 received an MFA from The University of the Arts London, Wimbledon College of Art. Whitney-Jade continues to expand her research and is now completing an MRes at Central St Martins, London.
