Zeynep Kezer

Zeynep Kezer teaches architecture at Newcastle University. She obtained her Ph.D. and M.Arch. from UC Berkeley and B.Arch. from Middle East Technical University. She has published extensively on the spatial dimensions of nation-building processes, and most recently she is the author of Building Modern Turkey: State, Space and Ideology in the Early Republic (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2015). Her current research focuses on how the Turkish state’s military, infrastructural and institutional capacity building transformed the complex cultural landscapes of the Upper Euphrates Region.
