Journal of Dance & Somatic Practices 14.2 is out now!

Intellect is pleased to announce that Journal of Dance & Somatic Practices 14.2 is out now!

Relationships between articles include reflections on embodied experiences and personal practice, considerations of somatic engagement and the maturing dancer and somatic explorations of differing dance styles. Situated within the context of current political and global unrest, the first two articles explore the intersection of politics, protest, touch, humanity and connectedness. The following two articles focus on different but somatically informed experiences of mature dancers. Self-reflection binds together the final articles, which each examine personal practice leading to the probing of ideas including identity and language, co-dependence, hooks and kinship.

Aims & Scope

This peer-reviewed journal focuses on the relationship between dance and somatic practices, and the influence of this body of practice on the wider performing arts. The journal will be aimed at scholars and artists, providing a space for practitioners and theorists to debate the work, to consider the impact and influence of the work on performance, and examine the interventions that somatic practices can have on other disciplines and the implications for research and teaching.
