Liz Pavey

Liz Pavey is the dance artist/researcher whose work is informed by phenomenology and theories of embodiment and somatics. She has lectured in dance and performance at Northumbria University since 2004. She holds an MA The Body & Representation from Reading University. Her recent site-sensitive practice research Take Your Seats (Shipley Art Gallery and Hexham Abbey) and Green Grass (Great Exhibition of the North FRINGE) investigated relationships of moving bodies to the more-than-human through a focus on chairs and artificial grass. She is currently collaborating with creative writer Dr Laura Fish on a practice-led research project exploring how language and movement engage with a narrative concerning experiences of indigeneity, place and young people’s experience of the criminal justice system. Recent article: Fish, L. and Pavey, L. (2021), ‘The other side of me: Moving words into motion’, Journal of Adaptation in Film & Performance, 14:1, pp. 109–23, https://doi.org/10.1386/jafp_00045_1.
