Adrienne L. Kaeppler

Adrienne L. Kaeppler is curator of Oceanic Ethnology at the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC. Her BA, MA and Ph.D. are from the University of Hawai‘i Anthropology Department. She was an anthropologist at the Bishop Museum, Honolulu, in the 1970s, and she has carried out extensive fieldwork in Tonga, Hawai‘i and elsewhere in Polynesia, as well as in museums and archives in many parts of the world. Her research focuses on the relationships between social structure and the arts, and she has published widely on these subjects.
