Alexandra Parker
Alexandra Parker is a researcher at Gauteng City-Region Observatory after a long association with the University of the Witwatersrand as an undergraduate and postgraduate student and, most recently, a postdoctoral research fellow. Her doctoral and postdoctoral research explores the influence of urban films on everyday practice in the cities of Johannesburg and Cape Town. The research aims to understand the ways in which residents interpret and negotiate their urban environments through the popular medium of film. She has presented and published on this research, most recently in the monograph Urban Film and Everyday Practice: Bridging Divisions in Johannesburg.
