Brigitta Davidjants

Brigitta Davidjants is a researcher at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre who, in recent years, has been mainly studying Estonian pop music. She is primarily interested in marginalized identities in Estonian subcultures from the 1980s to the 1990s and how the subcultural organization took place during the transition from late socialism to a post-communist society. Her specific emphasis is placed on doubly marginalized identities that fall outside mainstream culture and are also peripheral to the relevant subculture because of gender, ethnicity or gender representation. In the past, she has also researched the construction of Armenian national ideologies. In addition to the academic activities, Brigitta plays in the electronic music band HUNT.
