Carla Ganito
Carla Ganito has a Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the Human Sciences Faculty of the Catholic University of Portugal. Her thesis focused on gender and technology and was entitled ‘Women and Technology: Gendering the Mobile Phone: Portugal as a Case Study’. Her fields of research and teaching are new media, mobile communications, gender and technology, games and entertainment, and education and technology. She is the author of ‘Mobile Phone as Entertainment’ (Lisbon: Paulus, 2007). Carla has lectured in the fields of new media and marketing since 2001 and is currently a member of the board of directors of the Human Sciences Faculty at the Catholic University of Portugal. She is also a researcher at the Research Center for Communication and Culture, CIES-IUL – Center for Research and Studies in Sociology; and the Research Center for Media and Journalism, where she has collaborated in several research projects. She also co-coordinates a two-year research project on the practices of digital reading funded by the Gulbenkian Foundation.
