Carolyn Mair

Professor Carolyn Mair (Ph.D.) founder of psychology.fashion, works with global, international and national organizations, NGOs, charities, educators and the public, providing consultancy, research and training. Carolyn has published broadly in academic journals and is frequently featured on TV and radio, and traditional and online print media in the United Kingdom and overseas. Carolyn is a chartered psychologist, fellow of the British Psychological Society and the proud recipient of the British Psychological Society Distinguished Contributions to Psychology Education award (2017). Whilst she was professor of psychology for fashion at London College of Fashion, Carolyn created and led the world’s first master’s and bachelor’s programmes to apply psychology within the broad context of fashion. Her book, The Psychology of Fashion, was published by Routledge in 2018. She holds a Ph.D. in cognitive neuroscience, M.Sc. in research methods psychology and B.Sc. (Hons) in applied psychology and computing. Carolyn’s earlier careers include visual merchandising, graphic design, dressmaking and portraiture.
