Danila Cannamela

Danila Cannamela is Assistant Professor at the University of St. Thomas in the United States. Her research focuses on early twentieth-century literature, cinema and culture, with a particular emphasis on the representation of objects in modernist and avant-garde works. She is completing a book manuscript entitled The Quiet Avant-Garde: Crepuscular Poetry and the Twilight of Modern Humanism, which explores the human-nonhuman relations that crepuscularism and futurism redefined. Her articles have recently appeared in Italica, Otto/Novecento and Mosaici; an article on the crepuscular poetics of the object is forthcoming in Modernism/modernity. Cannamela is contributing to an edited collection on eating disorders and women’s writing: her essay investigates the novel Alessandra Arachi’s 2015 novel Briciole. She is currently exploring late twentieth- and twenty-first-century literary works, analysing cross-media relations between nature, culture, and consumer society.
