Fabio Caiani

Fabio Caiani is the co-author (with Catherine Cobham) of The Iraqi Novel: Key Writers, Key Texts (Edinburgh University Press, 2013). He is the author of Contemporary Arab Fiction: Innovation from Rama to Yalu (Routledge, 2007) and several articles on modern Arabic literature. He has recently been focusing on Iraqi fiction by exploring the works of Samīr Naqqāsh (d. 2004) and by co-writing with Catherine Cobham a series of articles on Muḥammad Khuḍayyir (b. 1942). He teaches Modern Standard Arabic and modern Arabic literature at the University of St Andrews, where he has been the head of the Department of Arabic and Persian since 2019.
