Isabel Jaén Portillo

Isabel Jaén Portillo holds Ph.D.s from Purdue University and the Universidad Complutense of Madrid and is professor of Spanish at Portland State University, where she teaches literature, film and cognition. Dr Jaén is co-director, with Gina Herrmann, of the International Conference on Hispanic Film and Fiction Cine-Lit and co-president of Latin American, Latino and Iberian Studies Association (LALISA). Her books include Cognitive Literary Studies (University of Texas Press, 2012); Cognitive Approaches to Early Modern Spanish Literature (Oxford University Press, 2016); Self, Other, and Context in Early Modern Spain (Juan de la Cuesta, 2017) and Cervantes and the Early Modern Mind (Routledge, 2022).
