Janaki Sasidharan Nair

Janaki Nair is a visual anthropologist, researcher, Kathakali performer and a filmmaker. She is currently a lecturer and deputy head at the East 15 Acting School, University of Essex, United Kingdom. She completed her Ph.D. from Northumbria University with specialized supervision from the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, and is currently a research project leader at the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies. She was also engaged with the University of Lincoln as a postdoctoral research associate. During her Ph.D., she received the Charles Wallace India Trust Doctoral Grant to support her research. She was trained in Kathakali by Guru Nelliyodu Vasudevan Nampoothiri and received India government’s talent scholarship in Kathakali. She received Selma Cohen Lecture Award from Fulbright Association, United States, in 2022.
