Johann Wilhelm Nicolaas Tempelhoff

Prof Johann W. N. Tempelhoff graduated with a BA degree in history, political science and international politics at the University of Pretoria. At the same university he completed an honours and masters degree in history. After his doctoral studies at the University of South Africa he started his research career in the Institute for Historical Studies at the Human Sciences Research Council. He was a senior lecturer in history at the University of Venda and became an associate professor of history at the University of the North. In 1996 he was appointed as professor at the North-West University where he is currently the leader of the Research Group for the Cultural Dynamics of Water in Southern Africa. He is the author of several books, research papers and articles. His research interests vary from research methodology, historiography, as well as the environmental and cultural history of water in South Africa.
