Kelly Kanayama

Kelly Kanayama holds a Ph.D. from the University of Dundee, where her research dealt with satirical portrayals of America in British-authored comics. She now works as an independent comics scholar and critic, and has been published in the academic anthologies Judge, Jury and Executioner: Essays on the Punisher in Print and on Screen (McFarland & Company, 2021) and Working-Class Comic Book Heroes (University Press of Mississippi, 2018), among others. She has also appeared as a guest and moderator on various Judge Dredd-related panels and events with 2000 AD. Currently, she is writing a book on John Wagner’s creation of and work on Judge Dredd, and another book on the comics of Garth Ennis.
