Kjetil A. Jakobsen

Kjetil A. Jakobsen is Henrik-Steffens professor at the Humboldt University in Berlin. He has published a large number of essays and articles on problems of cultural history and theory. In his doctoral thesis he compared Niklas Luhmann’s approach to aesthetic autonomy with that of Pierre Bourdieu ('Kritikk av den reine autonomi: Ibsen, verden og de norske intellektuelle'/'A critique of pure autonomy: Ibsen, the world and the Norwegian intellectual', Oslo: Unipub, Academic publishers, 2006). Other research interests include the intellectual history of globalization, communication and cosmopolitanism as well as the history of perception and new media.
