Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu

Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, a polymath artist, is professor of art and art history at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Nigeria, where he was also the deputy vice-chancellor between 2006 and 2008. His practice of the visual arts criss-crossed studio practice, curatorship, laboratory experimentation, art equipment designing and creation, material technology, pedagogy, scholarship and administration among other praxes. His numerous publications include seven authored books and monographs, two edited books and journal articles in prestigious outlets across all the continents. Professor Kalilu has a long list of pioneering groundbreaking achievements and is a recipient of many national and international prizes, which include Gold Medal in the 1978–1979 All Africa Painting Contest, merit prize in International Postage Stamp Design Contest in 1997, Outstanding People of the 20th Century Outstanding Achievement Medal in 2000, Twentieth Century Achievement Award in 2001, selection as one of 1000 Leaders of World Influence for the twenty-first century in 2000, the distinguished and exceptional Universal Award of Accomplishment in 2000. In 2001, he was selected as one of 500 Leaders of World Influence by the American Biographical Institute, USA, Development in Nigeria Merit Award in 2006 and the Form and Material Technology Icon Award in 2009. Professor Kalilu is a Justice of the Peace and member of several organizations, which include International Society of Experimental Artists, Australian Ceramic Society and International Association of Astronomical Artists, and is a fellow of the Society of Nigerian Artists.
