Richard Cagnasso

Richard Cagnasso is an associate researcher at the Centre de Recherche et de Documentation sur l’Océanie. He completed his Ph.D. on ‘The contribution of Italian schools in the first maps of Oceania’, in 2019. His current research focuses on the links between the militant Italian geography of the Risorgimento (the Renaissance) and the cartographic construction of Oceania, European exchange networks and the cartography of the Pacific, the cartographic construction of Oceania and Italy, the toponymy of Oceania and its subdivisions, Dumont d’Urville and Oceania.
