Robin Laney

Robin Laney is deputy director of the Music Computing Lab at the Open University. He is head of the School for Computing and Communications. He is interested in how music works and why it is so significant as a human activity. His team is exploring this through two approaches: first through computational musicology – what can pattern matching and statistical approaches tell us about music? Second, through constructing and investigating human–artificial intelligence collaborative systems that allow mixed-ability groups to make music in a meaningful manner. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
