Sigrid Mendoza
Sigrid Mendoza holds a Ph.D. in social community psychology from the University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras Campus and is currently a professor at the University of Puerto Rico – Aguadilla Campus. Her research related to heavy metal studies (HMS) began five years ago. Since then, she has presented at the Heavy Metal and Popular Culture Conference and published in journals (Metal Music Studies) and books (Heavy Metal Music and the Communal Experience). She has also worked in various documentaries concerning heavy metal in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean such as The Distorted Island and The Metal Islands and is part of a third documentary on the topic of Latin America. Her research interests include the following: relating social psychology with HMS and literature, sexuality and health.
