Svenja Bethke

Svenja Bethke is a lecturer in modern European history and a member and the former deputy director of the Stanley Burton Centre for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at the University of Leicester. From 2019 to 2021, she is a visiting Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at the Avraham Harman Institute of Contemporary Jewry at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem with her project on ‘Clothing, Fashion and Nation Building in the Land of Israel, 1880s–1948’. Her research interests lie in Holocaust studies, Modern Jewish history, legal history, visual culture and fashion history.
