Zak Waipara
Zak Waipara affiliates to these New Zealand Māori tribes: Rongowhakaata, Ngāti Ruapani, Ngāti Porou and Ngāti Kahungunu. He has illustrated and written for children’s books, comics, newspaper graphics, motion graphics and animations. He has lectured in narrative studies at the Animation College, currently lectures in digital communication at Auckland University of Technology and is pursuing a Ph.D. in art and design. His doctoral research involves crafting a trilogy of thematically linked graphic stories that uncover powerful, universal themes from pūrākau (Māori mythology) to shed light on modern problems.
