Zoe Zontou

Zoe Zontou is a senior lecturer in drama at Liverpool Hope University. Her research interests lie in the field of applied theatre with people in recovery from substance misuse. Her research covers a wide range of topics, including autobiography in performance, addiction studies and cultural theory, which are examined through their relationship with applied theatre. Publications include the edited volume Addiction and Performance (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2014), which she co-authored with James Reynolds, the chapter ‘Upon awakening: Addiction performance and aesthetics of authenticity’, in A. O’Grady (ed.), Risk, Participation, and Performance Practice (Springer, 2017) and ‘Under the influence of … affective performance’, Performance Research, 22:6, pp. 93–102. She is currently working on a monograph entitled Performing Addiction Cultures: Politics, Ethics, Aesthetics (Routledge, forthcoming).
