COVID-19

Intellect would like to pass on our best wishes to all of you around the world and hope you and your loved ones stay safe. The health and wellbeing of our staff as well as the wellbeing of the business is our main focus and we are responding as best we can to the ever-evolving situation.

The Covid Files

Covid-19 crisis has profoundly shaken up every aspect of our lives, accelerating many changes that were already under way and bringing up unexpected challenges. Some things we are used to taking for granted may be gone for ever, but at the same time there are opportunities for new ways of thinking, working and living. In this new series of short posts, Intellect authors, editors, collaborators and staff reflect on the situation, as it unfolds. PART 1 Alenka Barber-Kersovan and Volker Kirchberg of Urban Music Studies series reflect on struggles - and community and digital revival - of classical music of the past few months. Important information for journal librarians

We are focusing on ensuring that all our institutional subscribers have full access to their journals and we are working with our hosting and distribution partners Ingenta and Turpin to ensure your staff and students can access journals remotely without disruption. We do not anticipate any disruptions to our online services. Ingenta Connect is integrated with Shibboleth, OpenAthens and the Google CASA service which allow researchers to access full text PDFs from journals to which their institution has subscribed, even when they are working at home and not using a university IP address. More information about CASA and Ingenta Connect can be found here. Please check the instructions below on accessing, setting up and activating subscriptions:

If you have any problems with accessing or setting up subscriptions, please contact us.

Print resources

We are working with our suppliers to minimize disruption to print journal distribution. However, we do anticipate that there will be problems and delays in delivering your journals to you, and we may soon be unable to fulfil deliveries of print journals. Unfortunately, we are not able to put print deliveries on hold for print and online subscriptions without affecting the online access.

Personal subscribers to print journals

We are currently setting up free temporary online access to our journals for individuals with a print subscription to ensure your have continued access in case we are unable to fulfil print deliveries. We and our distributors Turpin will be in contact with all our print subscribers in the next few days via the e-mail address we hold for you with instructions on how to activate your online access. Please contact us if you don’t hear from us by 8 April, or if you have changed your e-mail address since ordering.

Ebooks

All our books are available as eBooks, in the majority of cases both ePDF and ePubs.

These can be ordered through the majority of retail and library vendors (ebooks distributors). If you are having problems finding a digital copy please email us: holly@intellectbooks.com.

Important information for editors and authors

We want to reassure our authors and editors that Intellect is still operational and working hard to make sure we can carry on uninterrupted. We are lucky in that the majority of us are able to work remotely and we will be placing more emphasis on communicating via email, chat and Google Meet and less so on the main Intellect telephone line during this time. Our internal business systems are fully developed for such circumstances and ensure that workflow of all ongoing and future projects remains as normal. Our production, print and distribution partners are doing all they can to remain operational and follow government guidelines, and we will work with them as best we can to provide the service required of us. We would like to thank our valued community for your continued support during this time.

Conferences
All of the spring conferences that we were going to attend have been cancelled. We will continue to promote the books and journals to our online communities.

Author and review copy policy
Due to the measures being taken to stop further spreading of the Coronavirus, many university buildings and businesses have closed. In line with other publishers, Intellect have moved away from sending physical author copies and review copies, and will only be sending digital copies for the foreseeable future.

We hope you, your colleagues and families stay safe and well.

With best wishes from all at Intellect
