Studies in South Asian Film & Media 16.2 is out now! Special Issue
Intellect is pleased to present Studies in South Asian Film & Media 16.2!
Special Issue: ‘Marathi Film and Media’
Despite Marathi cinema’s rich, varied, century-long history, scholarship has been sparse. It is only in recent years that we see a growing academic interest in the field. Speculating on whether the Marathi film industry’s collocation with the ‘national’ Hindi film industry is one of the primary reasons for this scholarly neglect, this focused issue collects four articles on diverse topics and with differing approaches to Marathi film and media culture by both established and early-career scholars to encourage Marathi cinema scholarship. The goal is to further our understanding of the other languages/regional versus Hindi/national binary.
