Aditi Deo

Aditi Deo is an assistant professor in the Division of Humanities and Languages, School of Arts and Sciences, Ahmedabad University. Her primary research interests are in the music of the Indian subcontinent, especially Hindustani khayal music, Hindi film music and a variety of vernacular folk traditions. Her work addresses conceptual questions related, among other areas, to performance practice, technologies, pedagogies, circulation and heritage. She has recently begun a monograph project, revising her Ph.D. dissertation on contemporary practices in khayal music. Previously, she has held positions as faculty fellow at IISER Pune (2014–17) and postdoctoral fellow at the University of Oxford (2011–13).
