Alejandro Melero
Alejandro Melero is a professor in the Communication Department at the Universidad Carlos III in Madrid, where he teaches scriptwriting and audiovisual narrative. He previously worked at Queens Mary University in London, where he also obtained his Ph.D. He is a member of the TECMERIC Research Group (Television/Film: Memory, Representation, Industry) of the Spanish Cinema University Institute. Notable among his publications are the books Placeres ocultos: Gays y lesbianas en el cine español de la transición (Notorious ed., 2010), Violetas de España: Gays y lesbianas en el cine de Franco (Notorious ed., 2017) and 25 años de cine y series LGTB en España (Vía Láctea, 2022). In 2016 he co-edited the book Performance and Spanish Film (MUP). He is also a playwright and the author of two novels, La luz de mis días (Ediciones B, 2018) and El secreto de la hierba (Tres Hermanas, 2021).
