Alessandra Mirra
Alessandra Mirra (Ph.D.) is a lecturer in Italian at Rowan University, NJ. Her research revolves primarily around modern and contemporary Italian literature, with a special focus on Giacomo Leopardi. Her publications include Leopardi teorico del tragico (Eum, 2012); the edited volume Leopardi: immaginazione e realtà (Marsilio, 2015); the annotated edition of Bruno Cicognani’s Novelle (Pagliai, 2012); and other contributions dedicated to early-twentieth-century authors, such as Giovanni Pascoli, Gabriele D’Annunzio and Guido Gozzano. She also developed a strong, parallel interest in cinema studies, focusing, in particular, on adaptation studies and on the historical film. She is currently completing an article on Ettore Scola’s Una giornata particolare (A Special Day) (Scola, 1977), and is working on a book-length project focused on zoomorphic political satire after the Enlightenment, in which she engages with literature, film and current debates in posthumanism.
