Alette Schoon
Alette Schoon is a senior lecturer in the School of Journalism and Media Studies at Rhodes University in Makhanda, where she teaches documentary film production as well as digital media studies. Alette worked for many years as a documentary filmmaker before entering academia. Alette’s Ph.D. in media studies from the University of Cape Town focuses on the digital media ecologies of hip hop artists. She has published various journal articles on mobile communication and youth and digital media and mobile communications in marginalized communities.
