Alex Lyons
Alex Lyons is a queer, neurodivergent performance artist, associate lecturer and Ph.D. researcher in drama and performance at East 15 Acting School, University of Essex. She also works at the world’s first Vagina Museum. Her work explores gender, sexuality and the representation of vulvas in contemporary performance, particular, how artists expose their vulvas in performance to interrogate sociocultural themes of gender, sexuality, body politics and beyond. She also produces her own performance event, Vulvaplicity, which uses creative expression as a mode of destabilizing cis-normative and heteronormative behaviour while giving space to topics that are often tabooed within cultural parameters.
