Alexei Monroe
Alexei Monroe is research fellow at Burren College of Art, Éire. He is an expert on industrial music and culture and is the author of Interrogation Machine: Laibach and NSK (MIT Press, 2005) and Autopsia: Thanatopolis (Divus, 2016). Both books analyse industrial, as well as alternative art and culture in former Yugoslavia. He was co-editor of the book Test Dept: Total State Machine (PC Press, 2015), dealing with the seminal British industrial group. He also writes on techno and other electronic music genres. In 2010, he co-organized an international symposium during Laibach’s 30th anniversary event and was programme director of the First NSK Citizens’ Congress in Berlin. He edited the Congress book State of Emergence (Ploettner Verlag and Poison Cabinet Press, 2011) and in 2016, he was a member of the organizing committee of the 2nd NSK Folk Art Biennale, held at Burren College of Art.
