Alfredo Baldi

Alfredo Baldi worked from 1968 to 2007 at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (CSC) (Centre for Experimental Cinematography) in Rome where he was director of the Scuola Nazionale di Cinema (National School of Cinema) and the Cineteca Nazionale (National Film Archive). A scholar in history of cinema and cinematic technique, he also taught cinematographic language at La Sapienza University of Rome. He has published more than 100 articles in specialist journals, mainly on Italian cinema. He has also authored two books on film censorship in Italy, and, more recently, La scuola italiana del cinema, Il Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia dalla storia alla cronaca (1930–2017) (Rubbettino, 2018) and 70 anni della Cineteca Nazionale del Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (1949–2019) (Rubbettino, 2019). He has also coordinated the exhibition of the 70th anniversary of the Cineteca Nazionale of the CSC, which was held in Rome in November 2019–January 2020.43
