Alice Blumenfeld

Alice Blumenfeld is the founder and artistic/executive director of ABREPASO Flamenco. She has received two Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Awards for Choreography (FY20 & 22). She grew up in Albuquerque, NM, immersed in flamenco culture, going on to graduate summa cum laude from New York University with a BA in comparative literature. In 2012, she received a Fulbright to study flamenco choreography in Spain. Upon her return to the United States, she gave the Selma Jeanne Cohen Lecture at the Fulbright Association International Conference, toured nationally with Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana and has been a guest artist with many of the pre-eminent flamenco companies in the United States. She graduated from Hollins University with an MFA in dance in 2017 and currently teaches at community centres, studios and universities in Northeast Ohio.
