Alison Mayne
Dr Alison Mayne is a researcher in wellbeing, handcraft and everyday textiles. Her Ph.D. explored perceptions of wellbeing for women amateur knit and crochet makers who shared their craft on social media. She has spoken and written on representation of knit in digital spaces, remaking historic clothing and fashion in Spare Rib magazine. Her current research work is focused on an eclectic mix of design-inspired projects, from the Hope MacDougall textile archive at Dunollie Castle in Argyll, to the potential of VR environments for mindfulness practice and the representation of older people in design literature.
