Alison Slater
Alison Slater is a senior lecturer in design history at Manchester Metropolitan University where she coordinates the undergraduate contextual studies framework, Contextualising Practice, across programmes in Manchester School of Art and Manchester Fashion Institute. She has a Ph.D. in dress history and an MA in textiles. Her research focuses on memories of working-class dress using oral history approaches. She is currently compiling a co-edited volume on Memories of Dress for Bloomsbury Academic, which includes a solo chapter on teenage dress in the 1940s.
