Allan Johnson

Allan Johnson is Assistant Professor in English Literature at City University of Hong Kong. His research centres broadly around issues of narrative form in twentieth-century British literature and culture, particularly in relation to the topics of intoxication, desire, and fashion. His book Alan Hollinghurst and the Vitality of Influence (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014), the first full-length study of Hollinghurst’s work, focuses on the role of the textual image in literary influence as a way to explore the interpenetration of literary and visual cultures throughout the twentieth century.
